President Donald Trump's administration on Thursday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to lift a lower court order that barred U.S. government agents from making immigration-related arrests in Los Angeles based on tactics that critics have called racial profiling.

The Justice Department called a lower-court order that limited the raids “a straitjacket" for law enforcement.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to lift a judge’s limits on “roving” immigration raids in the Los Angeles area. A federal judge last month ruled Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were conducting raids that likely ran afoul of constitutional protections against unreasonable seizures.
