James Maddison was carried off on a stretcher after suffering a serious-looking knee injury during Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season match against Newcastle United.

James Maddison has suffered a major knee injury on the eve of the new Premier League season in a huge blow to Tottenham. Spurs drew 1-1 with Newcastle United in South Korea on Sunday, in what was an emotional pre-season friendly.

The likes of Fulham, Newcastle and West Ham have all been linked with the midfielder, who is said to be valued at around £40million. He would be an ideal candidate to succeed Maddison in north London but his future remains uncertain for now.
