A Purdue University student from South Korea has been freed from federal detention following days of protests by faith leaders in New York and abroad.

A Purdue University student held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a Louisiana facility was released late Monday, according to media reports. Yeonsoo Go, a 20-year-old South Korean student and daughter of an Episcopal priest, was placed in federal detention at Richwood Correctional Center, The Washington Post reported.
