Alabama football defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has a new counterpart this season. Even though Nick Sheridan remains on staff, Ryan Grubb has joined up as the Crimson Tide’s primary offensive coordinator.

In Grubb's mind, physicality works in all shapes and sizes in an Alabama running back room that is returning its leading back in Miller, but for an offense that is losing its main performer in the ground game: quarterback Jalen Milroe.

One of the reasons the Tide’s offense struggled late in the season despite a Heisman-like performance from quarterback Jalen Milroe was that they were too predictable in the passing game. While Grubb will look to make the Tide more dynamic in the passing game, they’ve already shown they won’t rely on a run game early and often.
