According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, after the Chicago Cubs released veteran reliever Ryan Pressly, the team is reportedly considering another reunion with a postseason hero during the 2025 season. "The Astros are weighing the possibility of bringing back reliever Ryan Pressly after he was released by the Chicago Cubs." Nightengale writes.

Pressly, 36, lost his job in a corresponding move for left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor-league outfielder Ivan Brethowr. The Cubs also acquired swingman Michael Soroka from the Washington Nationals and right-handed reliever Andrew Kittredge from the Baltimore Orioles prior to the deadline.

Ryan Pressly, who the Astros traded to the Cubs, likely will elect to become a free agent, making himself available to any team for the league minimum with the Cubs paying the rest of the salary.
