The suspected gunman who attacked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's campus on Friday may have fired many hundred rounds, law enforcement said on Tuesday.

The CDC director described the dangers of misinformation, four days after a gunman shot at the headquarters in Atlanta, claiming the COVID-19 shot sickened him.

A Georgia man who had blamed the COVID-19 vaccine for making him depressed and suicidal has been identified as the shooter who opened fire late Friday on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters,

Authorities also confirmed that they had recovered "written documentation that expressed the shooter’s discontent with the COVID-19 vaccinations."

A search of Patrick Joseph White’s home revealed documents in which he indicated his discontent with the vaccine, they said.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Grappling with the aftermath of a shooting that killed a police officer and left nearly 100 shattered windows, leaders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention held virtual meetings with employees on Tuesday to rebuild trust at the agency's Atlanta headquarters.

On Friday, a gunman fired more than 180 rounds at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention buildings in Atlanta. That has left staff scared, as well as frustrated by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' response.
