Tesla CEO Elon Musk ’s Ratner moment, according to new data from S&P Global Mobility and published by Reuters, was endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in summer 2024. That decision resulted in a calamitous drop in customer retention for a brand which used to enjoy the best loyalty rates in the entire industry.

The new package comes just six months after a judge ordered the company to revoke his $56 billion pay package.

Elon Musk has received a massive pay package from Tesla amid a legal battle for an even larger payday. In a letter to shareholders on Monday, Aug. 4, Tesla announced that Musk was being awarded 96 million Tesla shares, noting that Musk “has not received meaningful compensation for eight years.”
