Thousands of San Fernando Valley residents were expected to remain without water through the weekend as repair work continues days after their service was first interrupted on Tuesday.

Days after Granada Hills and Porter Ranch lost water service, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and other officials urged thousands of customers to stop using water, saying toilet flushes and lawn sprinklers were slowing repairs.

Department of Water and Power crews will begin quality sampling and testing as soon as possible as efforts continue to restore water to more than 9,000 Department of Water and Power customers in Granada Hills and Porter Ranch who have been without service since Tuesday.
