Heavy snow blanketed a large part of Australia's New South Wales state on Saturday, causing power outages for thousands of residents on Monday. Locals said heavy snowfall had not been seen in the region for the last 10 years.

Snow as well as heavy rain and thunderstorms in other parts of eastern Australia led to more than 1,455 incidents over the weekend.

As much as 40 centimetres of snow fell in parts of New South Wales over the weekend, the most since the mid-1980s, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.View on euronews
