It hasn't been the ideal season for right-hander Dylan Cease of the San Diego Padres. When Cease is at his best, there's a strong argument to be made that he's among the top 10 starters in Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case throughout the 2025 campaign, posting a 4.52 ERA.

But, they held onto the veteran starter, and will keep him through the end of the year. While he's staying in San Diego through the rest of the season, Dennis Lin of The Athletic provided an important update on the potential for a Cease contract extension in San Diego.
