The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Erin, which is expected to become a hurricane later this week.

Category 1 Hurricane Erin hit near Vero Beach in 1995, went out to sea, and hit again near Indian River Shores.

Tropical Storm Erin formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Monday, forecasters said. The storm was expected to strengthen later in the week and could become the Atlantic's first hurricane of the season.
