The Trump administration is reportedly looking to sell stock in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which could be valued at roughly $500 billion.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been under government control since 2008, when their losses on the collapsing housing market helped trigger the Great Recession. President Donald Trump now wants to sell stock in them with an initial public offering.

Some officials believe the offering could raise around $30 billion and value the combined firms at roughly $500 billion or more.
